Proof: Gideon is dense

It happens all the time, the soft grunt as an unsuspecting someone picks up Gideon only to discover they should've bent at the knees and hoisted. And now the proof: Gideon is not particularly heavy for his age, but he is abnormally dense. Maybe that's why we love him so intensely.

Movie: Tomato harvest

This amazing tomato plant sprung up as if by magic (certainly we had nothing to do with it) in our backyard in the middle of the summer. Alas, too late in the summer to ripen its incredible harvest. Well, not too late to pick and pickle, with a little help from The Gid.

We went gleaning with Marin Organic and the whole family helped out: mama hoed, Felix looked for the biggest, weirdest potatoes, Gideon loaded the bins and did quality control checks, and I took pictures. Fun!

Felixbits: Branch dressing

At dinner the other night, the waitress brings some ranch dressing. Felix must have misheard: having sampled the goods he found them delicious and wondered aloud if branch dressing contains wood and bark and such. Would you like it less if it did?
